According to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, Russia is one of the six leading countries in student mobility.

Education in Russia is more affordable than the one in Canada and the USA, while the quality is also very high. In 2020 the cost for full-time bachelor’s programs started from 1,100 USD. Moreover, in regional universities (situated not in St. Petersburg and Moscow), education and accommodation, and transport will cost less.

Russia is one of the few countries that allow international students to study for free. There are several thousand budget places in Russian universities for foreign citizens (15,000 scholarship placements in 2020). Some foreigners, including compatriots, can also apply to budget-funded opportunities on an equal basis with Russians. Another possibility is to take part in university Olympiads. Discounts for admission to leading Russian universities are awarded to winners.

Dual Degree Programs

A dual degree program means that a person studies the subjects in two universities and receives two higher education diplomas. Education can take place simultaneously at both universities or sequentially: the first and second year in one institute and the third year – in the other. A dual degree program gives a student the chance to study the chosen field more in-depth or gain a second profession to find a prestigious job after graduation. Such programs enable to establish connections and business contacts abroad and improve language and communication skills.

Double diplomas are one of the indicators of the innovative activity of universities. Russian universities are implementing more than 200 such programs. The most popular specializations are economics and management, engineering and the human sciences.
